Modern Art is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of new paintings by Katy Moran. This is the artist’s fourth solo exhibition with Modern Art.
The exhibition comprises a new body of work made during the past year that reflect the continuing evolution of Moran’s approach to painting. Whereas in the past her work has drawn heavily on collage techniques, her new works employ a range of surfaces upon which paint is applied, including found paintings, glass and frames. After a period of time in which Moran’s work was largely desaturated of it, colour has entered back in to her work as a crucial component. Moran considers her work to have an important autobiographical factor.
Katy Moran lives and works in Hertfordshire. She was born in Manchester in 1975, and completed an MA Fine Art in painting at the Royal College of Art, London, in 2005.
Katy Moran’s work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Andrea Rosen Gallery, New York, USA (2015); Parasol Unit for Contemporary Art, London (2015); the Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin, Ireland (2013); Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus OH, USA (2010); Tate St Ives, St Ives (2009); and Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, Middlesbrough (2008).
