Modern Art is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of new work by Paul Lee. This is the British artist’s third solo show with Modern Art.
This exhibition comprises wall-based sculptures made from the cut fabric edges of bath towels, hand towels and washcloths, sewn together and coloured with ink. Each work is structured from the square and rectangular units of this familiar material, put together with narrative associations in mind that make reference to the body, landscape, behaviour, and language.
Paul Lee was born in London in 1974, and lives and works in New York, USA. He studied at Winchester School of Art, Southampton. Paul Lee’s work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Rosenwald-Wolf Gallery, Philadelphia, USA, and Chinati Foundation, Marfa, USA. His work has been included in exhibitions at the Morgan Library & Museum, New York, USA; Contemporary Art Museum, Houston, USA; Portikus, Frankfurt, Germany; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, USA; and Contemporary Art Museum, St Louis, USA.
